G Love and Special Sauce at the House of Blues

I remember a time when lots of people in New Orleans spent a lot of time and energy dogging the House of Blues, myself included. But here I am writing about two shows in a row at the downtown club.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence but it’s nice to see nationally known bands that appeal to the Vinyl District’s demographic playing at the HOB in the middle of the week.

G Love and Special Sauce present an appealing blend of hip hop and the blues that was unusual when the band began and remains unique. They also have a local connection. Drummer Jeffery Clemens is the founder of the rock steady band 007 that also features local stalwarts Jonathan Freilich and Alex McMurray on guitar and Joe Cabral on bass.
