Dumpstaphunk joins Lionel Richie on tour

If you happened to be in Brooklyn, New York or the surrounding metropolitan area last night, you might have heard about one of the most unlikely musical pairings to come down the pike in years.

The New Orleans band, which is led by keyboardist and vocalist Ivan Neville, is opening for the “All Night Long” superstar on five arena dates beginning at the new Barclay’s Center in the hip New York borough, and ending on October 18, 2013 at the Hollywood Bowl.

Though the two bands appear to have mutually exclusive fan bases, this is nothing but a good thing for Dumpstaphunk. Any time a local band gets a chance to tour with someone of the stature of Richie insures that our unique brand of funk is heard by tens of thousands of people who might otherwise be unaware of the sounds emanating from the Crescent City.

The other three dates are September 27 at Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta, GA, October 12 at the Woodlands Pavilion in Houston, TX and October 17 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
