Del McCoury Band and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band Collaborate on New Album

Since Ben Jaffe took over the operations at Preservation Hall he has opened the iconic building and its namesake band to a whole new world of possibilities. From new partnerships and novel recording arrangements, he has launched “the Hall” into the 21st century.

Their latest endeavor would make even the “moldy figs” proud. By joining together bluegrass music’s legendary Del McCoury Band and these msucial giants from New Orleans, a new window has opened for understanding the universal nature of American music.

The American Legacies album and the two bands’ joint tour-organized to bring its music to venues around the country-has already gotten plenty of attention for its remarkable combination of traditions. Whether they’re tackling a decades-old standard or a new composition, these two groups bring fierce musicianship, deep respect and a rollicking good humor to the musical table in a way that makes the joy of the encounter unmistakable.
