“The band started out as a desire…”
“A desire” could refer to a longing or a thought that may lead to action. Glorie longed for a musical and intelligent collaboration of textures and genres and crafted for us, this self titled release of nine intimate recordings. These purely instrumental movements develop like a projector, flashing vivid images of dramatic interactions across a white cloth in a dark room. They’ve squeezed every ounce of emotional content they could from the pop music format with some savvy additives like vibes and cellos. But these aren’t songs, they are pieces. Pieces which build you up and lay you down like a story arc in a daydream.
“Highrise” – Very appropriate intro piece that stays simple and upbeat.

“Music For a Horror Movie” – Heavy rock rhythm with fluid strings and spooky melodies.
“Looking Through The Mirror” – Rolling toms gently pushed by a violin melody and piano counter melody that build and release over and over.
“Full Circle” – This repetitive movement never really stops building till it ends. A steady and constant journey as soon as the drums start. Enjoy the sliding, spaghetti western element in the middle.
“Still Saved” – This piece suggests a more sinister beginning than the others but eventually gives way to an upbeat quirky melody sung by the electric and supported by vibes.
“Water Drops” – Piano driven symphonic poem with a nice explosive element in the middle and a crafty resolve in the end.
“Lazy Day” – Lazy rock rhythms carried by vibes accompanied by spacey melodies that poke in and out of small counter melodies pushed up and down by cellos and violins. The slow dissipation of structure in the end is nice.
“Nightmares Then Sunshine” – Nice dynamics and builds throughout the song. the descriptive contrast is apparent in the feel. Nice build in the end.
“Gunshot City” – Gives off a western beginning with a tense transition to 8th note piano guitar and vibe jabs. You are twice lead to active piano driven rhythms. with vibe melodies and finally into aggressive rock builds till the end.
The desire, this longing for intelligent music led to a record peppered with simplistic yet very crafty ideas. Jason Paxton, Rob Brimhall and Jonathan Kirkscey always keep melodies objective until Jeff Hulett and Andrew Saunders set the rhythm to build a cohesive journey. These tracks sound fantastic and are well produced by all involved. Congratulations on a beautiful effort and we thank you for sharing.
