Show of the Week: Goldenboy/Little Tybee @ Murphy’s

Murphy’s next Wednesday is going to be the place to be. On the 23rd, the local dive will host Goldenboy, Little Tybee, and our very own Twin Pilot. The best part? It’s a free show!

Goldenboy has been making waves since their debut Blue Swan Orchestra in 2003. The album included Elliot Smith lending vocals on single “Summertime,” which only added umph to their distinctive dark, relaxed indie rock sound. The band’s frontman and mainstay, Shon Sullivan seems to be a busy man, working with and in bands such as Eels, Neil Finn, The Rentals and the late Smith. Their third record, Sleepwalker, was released last month.

Little Tybee, from Atlanta, are an indie-folk band gaining some heavy traction in and around their hometown. Their revolving cast, centering around multi-instrumentalist Brock Scott and 4 other constants, gives the band its evolving but orchestrated sound. Their sophomore record, Humorous to Bees, was made with the help of 14 instrumentalists in Atlanta and now the band is headed back out from SXSW to support it even more.

And of course local Harry K. from The Angel Sluts will be fronting his new project Twin Pilot, rocking the middle set with their dark, mid-tempo shoegaze.

The show starts at 10:30 and it’s FREE!
