Online music network DittyTV likely to launch in early 2012

Have you ever wanted to learn more about local musicians and bands than where they are playing and how much the cover is? With DittyTV, a free new music broadcast network based in Memphis, you can tune in and watch live in-studio performances, interactive discussions, interviews, and educational programs about local musicians in the area.

Ronnie Wright and his wife, Amy, are launching the project out of a downtown building that they are renovating into a video and webcast production facility.

Louis Meyers, Executive Director of Folk Alliance International, has collaborated with the project and brings some experience with him after working with the Austin Music Network, one of the first 24/7 Internet television broadcasts, which was launched 10 years ago.

“It’s the same mentality as Austin Music Network, educational programming and a broad-based channel to provide opportunities for creative people.”

“Everything is still in the early stages, we don’t expect any major launch until February. We’ll utilize the Folk Alliance Conference to do some broadcasting and that will give us the beginnings of a unique library,” Meyers said.

Meyers isn’t just bringing tried and true ideas to the project.

“I’ve got my video library on site at DittyTV, but how we utilize it is still to be determined. As we figure out what kind of programming will occur we’ll figure out how to use it.”

DittyTV will broadcast HD shows on whatever platform you use whether it be smart phones, PCs or home theaters, and live streaming video will give you an inside look at how music programming is done.

The channel is still being developed, and as it takes shape local communities of artists will surely take notice. Building a community is the driving force behind DittyTV, and with a diverse array of programming and interactivity, it should not only build virtual communities on the web but help local music communities grow as well.
