TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

This week my playlist asks a simple question. “Did you know?”

I’ll bring anything you want / You know I’m here to guide you / But change your day from bad to good / Hide the tears inside you / Oh yeah… / Feelin’ bad – make it good / I’ll show you how I think you should be feelin’ now / Better times they got to come / Feelin’ bad – make it good / I’ll show you how I think you should be feelin’ now…

These verses from Spooky Tooth’s second album are not here to convey a heavy or moody vibe. True, this week did find me fighting a bit of a achy cold. I’m happy to report that a few hours of daylight savings has helped quite a bit this week.

The end result, this week’s hour of songs, is an hour of somewhat obscure tracks compiled during daytime hours—as opposed to “Idelic late nights.” The mix is a combo of a half dozen early ’70s rock treasures and new releases that run the risk of being passed over in a week of streaming, fast-paced media.

Did you know these recordings existed? Listen closely and enjoy.

Do you remember when I was riding high?
