The Drums supported by Aussie rockers Methyl Ethel played three nights at the The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Drums are an American indie pop/rock band based in New York City, founded in 2009 by current frontman Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham. Earlier in 2017 Graham announced his departure from the group on good terms. Their forth album, Abysmal Thoughts, was released a few months later.
At the first of the three Fonda shows on Thursday, Pierce wore a jumpsuit that proudly displayed his most recent album title. Rightfully so, as he wrote and produced the entire thing himself. He danced and spun across the stage, reaching out into the enthusiastic young crowd again and again.
Methyl Ethel from Australia opened the show. Their breezy pop rock set a dreamy and nostalgic mood for the beginning of the night. Band members include Jake Webb, Thom Stewart, Hamish Rahn, and Chris Wright. Their second studio album, Everything is Forgotten, was released earlier in 2017.
