TVD Vinyl Giveaway: Bob Marley and The Wailers ‘Live Forever’

I think I have every Bob Marley and The Wailers LP from their ‘proper’ catalog. I say ‘proper’ because there are a zillion knock off LPs floating around out there, from the early Wailers-era stuff to the latter day bootlegs hastily assembled.

And in more than one instance, I have 2 or 3 copies of the same LP. They’re “well loved” if you get where I’m going. They’ve been with me for years, perhaps overplayed, and their well worn condition attests to their timelessness. That said however, their familiarity begs for something new. (See where this is going?)

On February 1, 2011 on UMe/Tuff Gong International releases Bob Marley and The Wailers ‘Live Forever’—recorded 30 years ago while Marley was touring in support of his album Uprising. Live Forever is Bob Marley’s last recorded concert. This never before released audio collection offers an incredible snapshot of one of music’s most influential performers.

The record is available as a 2CD+3LP limited edition box set, 2CD Deluxe Edition and digital download and features many of Marley’s most cherished songs; containing unique performances of “No Woman No Cry,” ”Jammin’,” and ”Is This Love,” to name a few.

This audio documentary Live Forever, also immortalizes the last song Marley ever performed live in concert: “Get Up Stand Up,” his rally cry for equality. “Bob’s music has always conveyed a message of hope, unity and love. It has brought countless people together as it did that night 30 years ago in Pittsburgh. To hear that music today and to be able to share it with a new generation shows that Bob is as relevant today as he was 30 years ago,” says Rita Marley.

So, me? I’m headed to one of my local mom and pop shops to pick up my copy, come February. You guys however can enter to win the set you see above (which will ship a week before release) with a special t-shirt and a button set we’re tossing into the mix as well.

You’ve heard the state of my Marley vinyl collection above—now it’s your turn. In the comments to this post, simply let us know what Bob and/or his classic catalog has meant to you over the years. We’ll choose the best of the bunch one week from today, January 20 and award one of you this future classic.

Can’t wait until February? Preorder the deluxe vinyl edition right here!
