Weekend Shots!

Happy 2013! It’s a new year full of new shows, first shows, and last shows, so don’t miss a step and go down the wrong alley! This weekend start your year off right with a last show, some genius advice, and HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

Friday, January 4th: Presto Bando at the Velvet Lounge

Don Ables (guitar/lead vocals), Chip Shinko (bass), and Van Samek (drums) are DC band Presto Bando—and are unfortunately calling it quits with their last show tonight.

Releasing their latest album, Rake in March of 2012, plans are still afoot to release their final album this March despite their parting of ways. Let’s hope that vocalist Don continues in some capacity, as his voice is a unique treasure.

Saturday, January 5th: Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock ‘n’ Roll Group by Ian Svenonius book talk at Politics & Prose in DC, 6pm. After party dance at Comet Ping Pong with DJ Kid Congo Powers – FREE, 10pm, all ages

If you’re in a band, thinking about starting a band, or want to have someone read a book to you, Supernatural Strategies is for you. Ian Svenonius of DC’s Chain and The Gang, among many other ventures, will be on site to capture your spirit and get you ready to take on the endeavor of your life – starting and surviving a rock ‘n’ roll group. His instructional guide “doubles as a warning device, a philosophical text, an exercise in terror, an aerobics manual, and a coloring book.” Not sure what more you could want.

After you get your fill of real words on actual paper, head over to Comet Ping Pong for the after party with notable DJ Kid Congo Powers.

Sunday, January 6th: Washington Redskins versus Seattle Seahawks, 4:30pm at IOTA

Okay, so this isn’t music related but this is history in the making, so why not get to a music venue to watch it projected on 2 large sheets and on a stage where our beloved Redskins belong. Hail to the Redskins!

There is nothing left to say—get out there music freaks and start your new year of live music and victory!
