Hang around this blogging racket enough and you run out of superlatives with which to recommend a band or a vinyl release. It’s just a hazard of the job, I’m thinking.
So, to recommend Louisville’s The Fervor to you and their second full length LP, Arise Great Warrior, I turn this post over to My Morning Jacket’s Jim James:
“I had a dream I was being chased by two lions…their manes shining in the sun and blowing in the breeze as they chased me across an African plain with no end in sight or shelter of any kind. Hoping I could outwit them, I dove into a stream (thinking perhaps they could not smell me if I was underwater) but they dove right in after me and sank their teeth into my neck…and I remember laying there in the water watching the lifeforce flow from my body into the stream with a beautiful rainbow-like quality…almost the same way motor oil looks in a puddle of rain…and it just felt so peaceful…I understood it was all so natural…survival of the fittest…and I got the same feeling when I first heard the liquid strands of The Fervor’s “Arise Great Warrior” flow thru my ears…it all feels so natural and peaceful…a necessary part of life, new born and floating freely in the cosmos forever now.”
Right. Didn’t see that coming, did you?

But we agree and to that end, we have a free copy of the vinyl release to put in one of your hands to hammer the point home.
How do you win the LP? I want to say you should out do Mr. James with his enthusiasm and er, fervor…but we’ll go easy on you. Check out the video, download the Mp3, and sufficiently convince us in the comments to this post that the LP should find a home in your collection.
We’ll give you a week to conjure up your declaration of desire and close this one out next Friday, 5/13.
