To Lose My Life…, the first album of English post-punk rockers White Lies, debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, and their sophomore effort Ritual, released in January, hit #3. Their danceable indie beats have often been compared to the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Joy Division, Editors, and Interpol, dark but approachable and embraceable.
We have a pair of tickets for you to win for their stop at 9:30 Club this Friday (5/20) with openers (bonus!) shoegazers Asobi Seksu and Sun Airway.
White Lies was formerly called Fear of Flying. The fear of flying is termed aviophobia.
To win the tickets, give us a real or imaginary phobia. I’m going to go with defenestraphobia, the fear of being thrown out of a window. (It’s real!)
[Please don’t yell at me for being insensitive to mental illness. I’m very claustrophobic, entomophobic, and have never, ever, considered myself sane. Give a crazy person a hug today.]
The winner will be chosen Wednesday (5/18) at noon.
