Few things in life are actually worth waiting for – but the long-anticipated third studio album from The Kooks is one of them. And you have a chance to win a pair of Pavilion tickets to see the UK pop stars with Foster the People on June 10th at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Despite a three-year wait since their immensely successful sophomore album, The Kooks prove they still have it with 2011’s Junk of the Heart, which the The Guardian calls “winsome, highly listenable harmonic pop.”
There’s quite a line-up of hit makers joining The Kooks on Sunday at Merriweather. Complementing the British invasion-inspired band is the dance-heavy L.A. trio Foster the People, as well as New-Zealand based singer-songwriter Kimbra.
If there’s one thing uniting these three acts, it’s that you’ve likely listened to singles from each of them on repeat while belting out the lyrics. Don’t try to deny it – Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” is probably stuck in your head right now. The Kooks have “Always Where I Need To Be,” among others. And while the American version of Kimbra’s album just debuted, she also has the song-stealing cameo in Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.”
While there’s more to each of these artists than the just these pop hooks, there is also a certain joy in knowing every single word to a great song – and having the chance to sing along to it with thousands of your closest friends. Sounds like the perfect way to kick off summer.
For your chance to win two Pavilion tickets, tell us which summer hit you’re singing in the shower these days.
Personally I haven’t been able to get “Shine On” out of my head since 2008. And that’s just fine by me.
We’ll choose one winner for the pair of tickets on Friday (6/8) at noon! The winner must confirm the tickets via email by 5pm.
