TVD Ticket Giveaway: Raphael Saadiq at the 9:30 Club, 5/25

Raphael Saadiq swings by 9:30 Club next Wed (5/25), and we have a chance for you to win a pair of tickets. The retro soul and R&B maestro just released his newest album Stone Rollin’ in March to critical acclaim. (Released May 10th here in the US of A.)

“Raphael Saadiq draws from styles and sounds that came before him, which can trigger remembered emotions and also create new ones. It’s a lot like comfort food, but reimagined by a really talented 21st-century chef.”—NPR

“Throughout [Stone Rollin’], his falsetto remains supernatural and his songwriting successfully summons the ghosts of Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye. Dismissing it as overly familiar obscures the point. Saadiq is a classicist of the best kind — one who not only carries on tradition but expands it.”—LA Times

More press love set to “Radio,” even though he’s “stone rollin’, baby”:

The sexy title track from the album, “Stone Rollin'” itself:

Saadiq is the former lead singer of Tony! Toni! Tone!… Wowww, early ’90s flashback. (“Feels Good,” anybody?!?!)

To win the pair of tickets, tell us in the comments below, your fave early ’90s track.

So many options, gah! Grunge, alone?!?! But for me, that era is defined by Jeff Buckley’s “Last Goodbye.”

The winner will be chosen Monday (5/23) at noon.
