We told you to be on the lookout, and we always try to keep our promises.
Middle Brother, the folk-rock supergroup featuring John McCauley (Deer Tick), Matt Vasquez (Delta Spirit), and Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes) will be playing 9:30 Club tomorrow after releasing their new album today, and you’ve got a chance to win a pair of tickets to see them.
BONUS: The openers are their very own bands, Deer Tick and Dawes.
The trio performed together for the first time almost a year ago, originally under the name MG&V, as SXSW will mark their anniversary. They also played a one-off show in December at LA’s Troubadour, but tomorrow night they kick off their US tour right here in DC.
To win tickets to the show, just comment below, what supergroup, other than Middle Brother, is your favorite, and why.
The winner will be selected tomorrow (3/2) at noon. He or she will have until 3pm to respond to our email to confirm the tickets.
We’ll leave you with this quote from Rolling Stone’s Will Hermes regarding Middle Brothers’ collective stance. We imagine this is how they feel about the upcoming tour:
…an alt-country round robin, with raw harmonies and punk-rock sentiment as unforgiving as a prison shiv. “I know my days are numbered, but I’m bad at math/I got a dick so hard that a cat couldn’t scratch,” howls McCauley on “Middle Brother.” Half the songs on Middle Brother involve drinking and the rest hangovers of the heart, and on Paul Westerberg’s “Portland,” everyone chimes in on the line “It’s too late to turn back, here we gooooo” — they’re certain of trouble ahead, and relishing it.
