At the age of twenty-three, most of us are fresh out of college, in search of our path through life.
For Markéta Irglová, at just the tender age of eighteen, a path lead her straight to a starring role in the indie hit film, Once. She not only landed a main part, but also helped write the music for the film’s soundtrack. Success continued to follow her when she was nominated and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, “Falling Slowly,” with co-star and fellow The Swell Season bandmate Glen Hansard.
Markéta Irglová doesn’t need to glamour us in order to fall for her. The simplicity and beauty comes out with the words that spill elegantly through the air. Her soothing melodies are bound to win you over instantly.
Opening for Markéta Irglová will be the soulful, raspy sounds of Sean Rowe. With his guitar in hand he bellows out lyrical beauty straight from his sandy vocals.
For a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Markéta Irglová with Sean Rowe at the 9:30 Club on Monday 11/28, tell us in the comment box below, your all-time favorite movie soundtrack.
My all-time favorite movie soundtrack without a doubt would be the soundtrack for the film Trainspotting, featuring a mix of ’90s britpop with classics from Lou Reed, New Order, and Iggy Pop.
The winner will be chosen after we return from the holiday, at noon on Monday, November 28th, and must confirm the tickets via email by 3pm for that night’s show. Happy Thanksgiving!
