If you don’t know who Gotye is, you’ve been living under a rock (or without a radio).
The Australian singer-songwriter’s ubiquitous single “Somebody That I Used to Know,” featuring Kimbra, has sold more than seven million copies worldwide and has quickly become one of the best-selling downloads of all time.
Gotye will be coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday, June 30th with Missy Higgins and Jonti. While tickets don’t go on sale until this Friday at 10AM, we have a pair of lawn tickets that we want to be in the hands of one lucky reader before you can even buy ’em!
If you aren’t hearing the original version of “Somebody That I Used To Know,” you’re probably checking out one of the many cover versions currently causing a lot of buzz. Canadian indie group Walk Off the Earth’s five people, one guitar version, as well as the Bad Lip Reading, “I Kicked Your Monkey,” gained major attention after being posted to YouTube.
For your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Gotye before you can buy them, comment below and tell us your favorite cover or derivative of a song.
I’m going to go with Jeff Buckley’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
A winner will be selected at noon on Thursday, June 8th.
