TVD Ticket Giveaway: Gogol Bordello at the 9:30 Club, 12/27

A very eclectic double-bill is stopping in at the 9:30 Club for two nights only at the end of next month. Featuring the talents of both the worldly gypsy-punks Gogol Bordello and Philadelphia experimentalists Man Man, these are two nights of music that shouldn’t be missed, and we have a pair of tickets to give away to the first night.

Founded in Manhattan in 1999, Gogol Bordello have made a name for themselves around the globe, due in large part to their relentless tour schedule and enthusiastic live performances. The band comes in only a few months removed from the release of their sixth studio effort, Pura Vida Conspiracy. The record was well-received within the music community.

“It might be the band’s best collection of sounds yet,” wrote critic Allison Franks in a review for Consequence of Sound. “It inks the true spirit of Bordello to the front page and doesn’t disguise their inherent purpose of world integration behind exclusively fast-paced melodies.”

With their unique musical stylings largely centered around lead singer Honus Honus, Man Man have carved their own special niche within the experimental music world through energetic live shows involving a slew of different woodwind instruments and various percussive elements, including pots and pans, spoons, and even fireworks. Like their set partners, the band also has a new record in tow, with album number five On Oni Pond having only been released this past September.

The album has already made waves among listeners with its first single “Head On” peaking at #35 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. “With On Oni Pond, Man Man has delivered a beautifully weird and unforgettable collection of songs,” the band bio reads. “This is an undeniably ambitious band reborn to new, focused greatness.”

For a chance to win the pair of tickets to the Friday (12/27) show, tell us your favorite thing that might seem just a little bit weird. My answer? Eating croutons as if they were chips.

The winner will be chosen at noon on Wednesday, November 27. Gogol Bordello and Man Man can be seen at the 9:30 Club both Friday, December 27 and Saturday, December 28. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased at the 9:30 Club box office, or online at Ticketfly.com.
