If you live in the DMV area, chances are you know that the Virgin Mobile FreeFest will be coming to town tomorrow, Saturday October 6th.
For the fourth consecutive year, Merriweather Post Pavilion will play host to a variety of musicians and DJs performing throughout the course of the day on one of the festival’s two stages or in the Dance Forest.
This year’s line-up boasts a diverse list of artists that offers something for pretty much everyone. If you’re like me, you’re probably going to be spending a lot of quality time by the Pavilion Stage. Among the acts performing throughout the day are a recently-reunited Ben Folds Five, Americana indie rockers Alabama Shakes, veteran classic rockers ZZ Top, and last, but certainly not least, Mr. Jack White.
Closing out the Festival Stage will be Skrillex, whose set will be preceded by performances by French synth-pop group M83, indie pop songstress Santigold, rapper Nas, and Portugal. The Man. Meanwhile, the Dance Forest will feature performances from the likes of Nervo, Porter Robinson, and Above & Beyond. Full schedule below.
Weren’t able to grab tickets before they free’d out? You might be in luck. Virgin Mobile Live announced that it is releasing over 1,000 special one-day only $20 “Karma Tickets” today, with all proceeds going to the Re*Generation House, a new homeless youth shelter built on the donations of prior Free Fests.
Tickets will be available at the Merriweather Post Pavilion South box office and the 9:30 Club box office from 12PM -6PM, or until they run out. There is a 2-ticket limit per person. Hurry—they’re sure to go fast!
