TVD Recommends: A Tribute to Robert Egger at the Hamilton, 1/7

In the annals of giving back to one’s community and Washington, DC in particular, Robert Egger has engendered a wealth of fine karma. The founder of DC Central Kitchen, a non-profit community kitchen that not only feeds the hungry but offers the unemployed on-the-job training, is departing DC for LA. Egger’s LA Kitchen will build on the model he’s established here in Washington.

The aforementioned fine karma will send Egger off to LA with a wet kiss and a big, warm bear hug this coming Monday night (1/7) at The Hamilton with an evening of food, speakers, and some music from some locally sourced talent.

Cocktails and food will be served from 6 PM – 7:30 PM. The tribute will take place from 7:30 PM – 9 PM. Music and fun from 9 PM – 10 PM. Speakers include José Andrés, Bill Couper, Paul Cohn, Dan Glickman, and more.

As mentioned, a rather unique supergroup of sorts has come together for the evening. The “house band” will consist of Will Rast, keyboards (The Funk Ark), Ashish Vyas, bass (Thievery Corporation), Tom Bunnell, guitar (Sun Wolf, Felt Letters), Jerry Busher, drums (Fugazi), and Mark Cisneros, guitar, sax (Deathfix, The Make-Up).

The Black and Tan Fantasy Band will consist of Will Rast, Jerry Busher, and Ashish Vyas, followed by the “Kid Congo Power Hour!” Joining Kid Congo Powers, vocals (The Cramps) will be Tom Bunnel, Mark Cisneros, Brendan Canty, drums (Fugazi, Deathfix) and Alyssa Bell, vocals, harmonica, shaker.

Food, family, and a fond farewell.
