“My first experience with vinyl is one that I remember fondly. I had to have been about nine years old when my big brother and I came across my grandma’s old record player in her basement. Judging by the records we found with it, it was my mom’s from back when she was a kid.
Once we figured out how to use it, I think it’d be safe to say that I was rocking on the Peter Pan soundtrack everyday for the next year; “Never Smile At A Crocodile” being the favorite, of course.
I got my own record player when I was about thirteen or so. My record collection started off with some Sex Pistols, Nirvana, and Elton John to name a few. I’d have to say my favorite collection of vinyls though is my Radiohead discography. While I don’t yet have all of the imports and B-Sides, I just finished it off with “In Rainbows” and “The Bends” last year.

What I love most about vinyls is often times the artwork. Something about hanging them all over my wall or putting them up on my bookshelf just makes the experience that much better. Nowadays I tend to only get vinyls of my absolute favorite bands and artists. There’s a lot to be said for having the vinyl versus the CD or mp3 files, and I really hope that’s something that doesn’t get lost over time.”
