Raise Up Your Ink-Stained Hands For The Builders & The Butchers

Portland’s favorite gospel/blues/folk/country/punk collective The Builders & The Butchers sent out a missive today that features a fine opportunity for the artistically inclined among you. They and their friends in the band Murder By Death are looking for someone to create some artwork for their upcoming split 7″ single (to be released on MBD’s label Tent Show Records. Not only will your design be the envy of music fans and artists the world over but, according to the band, you will win a batch of free vinyl from both bands.

Don’t just take my word for it: read the e-mail from The Builders & The Butchers camp after the jump.

The Builders and The Butchers and Murder By Death are happy to announce an art contest for the Seven Series split 7″ coming out this summer on MBD’s label Tent Show Records. For this release, MBD has covered The Builders and The Butchers song “In The Branches” and TBATB have covered MBD’s “Until Morale Improves The Beatings Will Continue”.

Also, Ray from TBATB has a one-man band called Mission Operation where he makes music on Nintendo Game Boys, and he has done Game Boy covers of “Ball and Chain” by MBD and “Down In This Hole”” by TBATB. AWESOME. All four tracks will be on the 7″.

If you’re an artist and would like to participate in this contest, please submit a 7″ by 7″ 300 dpi PSD of your art and email it to mbdband@gmail.com . Your submission can have as little or as much information as you want. Deadline for submissions is May 25th. MBD will pick one design and TBATB will pick a second one for the b-side.

The Prize The two winning artists will each receive all five Murder By Death albums on vinyl, all three The Builders & The Butchers albums on vinyl, and five copies of the split 7″ with their lovely art on it, along with a letter of praise from MBD that will surely get them into all the finest salons in Paris and Berlin, due to our extreme prominence in the 1920s art world.
