Kurt Vile will be playing an acoustic in-store at Red Onion Records & Books, tonight at 6pm.
Before embarking on North American and then European tours, Vile is doing a series of solo acoustic in-stores to promote his new album, Smoke Ring For My Halo, which will be released March 8th from Matador Records. However, you will be able to pick up a copy of the LP tonight at Red Onion.
In one interview alone, Vile was compared to artists including John Fogerty, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen, and Animal Collective. The track “Ghost Town” from the album was recently named Best New Music by Pitchfork, and since 2009’s Childish Prodigy, he has been earmarked as “one of the more important figures in American music.”
I had the pleasure of saying hi to Kurt Vile after a performance a couple of years ago and can confirm that not only can he rock so hard that your eyeballs will melt, but he is also a really swell fella, to boot.
And if all of that isn’t enough to convince you to stop by, you can stream the entire new album right now on NPR.
Red Onion Records & Books is located at 1901 18th Street NW.
