MIA LeBLON @ the Beat Kitchen, 9/2
Mia LeBlon is a powerhouse vocalist channeling the likes of Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Etta James and Fleetwood Mac. Her range of styles has managed to secure her audiences at festivals including SXSW and Summerfest. Her debut album Looking Glass was released in April, and you can check out the track “Love Strikes Twice” below.
LETTUCE @ the Bottom Lounge, 9/4
Lettuce is an incredible seven-person funk group that manages to emulate the sounds of funk legends like James Brown, Sly Stone, Earth Wind & Fire and Parliament Funkadelic. Formed in 1992 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Lettuce has been creating jazzy funk music ever since. Their latest album Rage! can be picked up on vinyl at their merch booth, and you can check out the song “Blast Off” from Rage! below.
