THE SEA AND CAKE @ The Empty Bottle – 12/17
Chicago natives, The Sea and Cake, started playing music together in the mid-1990s. What began as indie rock with a jazz influence soon developed into a sound that relied on electronic sources like drum machines and synthesizers.
After a hiatus from 2004 to 2007, the band returned with their album, Everybody. Earlier this year, maintaining their distinctive post-jazz style, The Sea and Cake released their 10th and latest studio effort, The Moonlight Butterfly.
You can pick up most of The Sea and Cake’s discography on vinyl through Thrill Jockey’s website.
