SUMMER GIRLFRIENDS (Record Release Party) at the Burlington, 6/22
Summer Girlfriends does vintage sunshine pop right. The all-girl quintet blasts through their new LP, Shockwaves, with warmth, nostalgia, and the occasional hint of garage rock angst. Presented by Saki Records, the release party will kick off tonight at 9:00 PM, with Orca Team and Blizzard Babies.
Out on Addenda Records, 6/5, you can grab a copy of Shockwaves on awesome lavender-colored vinyl for just $12, online, or in person at Saki Records, 3716 W Fullerton Ave.
Another event that you’re not going to want to miss after Summer Girlfriend’s release party on Friday is this year’s Green Music Fest.
Taking place on Damen Ave, between North & Schiller, the “green” event aims to reflect the environmentally-conscious communities with green vendors, services, arts, crafts, and music. Running Saturday, 6/23, and Sunday, 6/24, from noon to 10:00 PM, Green Music Fest will feature headliners Dinosaur Jr., Hey Rosetta!, The Raveonettes, and Passafire, along with an impressive lineup of Chicago talent. Admission is a $5 donation.
