Playing raw punk rock since 2004, New York’s I Am The Avalanche have created a name for themselves in the punk scene. After the release of the self-titled debut album in 2005, the quintet toured across the world and developed a loyal following. Six years after their debut record, I Am The Avalanche is back with their powerful sophomore effort.
Currently making their way across the country in support of the new record, Avalanche United, I Am The Avalanche will be headlining at the Subterranean this Saturday (3/24).

Released this past October, Avalanche United, is the second studio album from I Am The Avalanche. With an intimidating six years gap between releases, vocalist Vinnie Caruana had this to say about the new release and its effect on the band:
“This band has a nervous energy, an urgency that each of us feel every second of our lives, and this album captures that. We’re brothers, we’re family. The music we make together binds us together and gets us through all the hard times, together. I feel like all five of us will be able walk with less weight on our shoulders now that we’ve finished this album after years of writing and recording.”

The all ages show at the Subterranean (2011 W. North Ave) kicks off at 5:30 PM this Saturday, 3/24. Opening for I Am The Avalanche are Hostage Calm, Red City Radio, and local Chicagoan’s The Sky We Scrape. If you don’t win big here, you can always pick up tickets online for just $12, or at the door for $15.
