Making a record is no easy task. Nevertheless, the boys of Filligar have been hard at work in Chicago, since we last spoke in November, writing and recording their upcoming release.
In the midst of recording a new record, Filligar will be heading down to California in the coming weeks to play a handful of shows. But before they leave town for the Golden State, they will be taking the stage at the Subterranean this Friday, and we’ve got your tickets.
Check out the full contest details below as well as an exclusive album update and studio photographs direct from Filligar.
“For the last few months we’ve been working on a new record in Chicago. We do most of the writing and pre-production out of our studio in the west loop (which the Vinyl District visited in November). The actual recording is done at Electrical Audio on Belmont avenue, which is one of the last studios in the Midwest clinging to analog recording technology.
We play all the songs as a band while the tracks are recorded to half-inch tape. This gives the album a “live” feel which we really like. At the moment, we’ve got five songs completed and by the end of the week we’ll have three more mixed. The entire album should be finished recording in February, and shortly after we’ll release the record. Until then you can hear two tracks at www.filligar.com.” – Pete Mathias
Filligar will be at the Subterranean (2011 W. North Ave) this Friday (1/13) with Chicago’s Save the Clocktower and Nashville’s Daniel Ellsworth & the Great Lakes.
The 21+ show kicks off at 9:00 PM, and you can pick up tickets for just $10.
Short on cash? We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away right here!
For a chance to win a pair of tickets to Filligar’s show this Friday (1/13) at the Subterranean, tell us the record you are most looking forward to in 2012. I’m going to have to go with Sweet Sour, the sophomore effort from Band of Skulls.
The winner will be chosen on Thursday, 1/12.
