Let’s assume that you, like your TVD Chicago editors, love hearing and discovering great local music. The issue of course, is how to hear everything that Chicago has to offer. It’s not as if you can just get a playlist of fantastic local bands sent straight to your inbox every week, right? That, my friends, is where the Chicago Mixtape steps in to lend a hand.
The brainchild of Casey Meehan, the Chicago Mixtape aims to connect Chicago music fans with the music. The site hosts a weekly playlist that subscribers can download for the measly cost of an E-mail address.
With over 250,000 song downloads from nearly 300 local musicians, the Chicago Mixtape is celebrating it’s 1 year anniversary with a show this Saturday at the Subterranean.
We think that everyone should check out this show, so if cash flow is your excuse, we’ve got your chance to win a pair of tickets below.
The show is a fundraiser, with all of the proceeds going directly to support the Chicago Mixtape in its second year. On top of performances by incredible local bands The Shams Band, Elephant Gun, The Damn Choir, and Architecture, official sponsors Old Style and DO312 are providing a hosted bar from 8:00 – 9:00 PM with an RSVP.
The 21+ show kicks off at 8:30 PM at the Subterranean (2011 W North Ave), and if you don’t win big here, you can always pick up tickets online for just $10.
For a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Chicago Mixtape 1 Year Anniversary show this Saturday (2/11) at the Subterranean, simply tell us in the comments of this post the name of your favorite Chicago band. It can’t get much easier than that!
The winner will be chosen this Thursday, 2/9.
