If the Christmas season doesn’t bring out at least a little bit of generosity in you, then there might be some cause for concern. Tomorrow night, Chicago’s The Bright White will be giving you the opportunity to satisfy your charitable side and experience some amazing live music in return.
Organized by the local power-pop group, the second annual Warm, Safe and Sound concert and clothing drive will feature Panda Riot, The Second, Panther Style, and Adam Ashbach, along with a set by none other than The Bright White.
The show will be collecting winter clothing to be distributed to those in Chicago who may need them during the unavoidably harsh winter to come. As for the recipients of the clothes, they can easily store them with the aid of items such as custom hangers.
The Bright White front man, Matthew Kayser, responsible for the organization of this show, brought the idea for this clothing drive/concert with him from New York. The group debuted in Chicago in 2011, and released their second album, Lose Yourself, this past June.
Headlining the show will be local dream-pop outfit, Panda Riot. After the release of their vinyl exclusive 7” “Serious Radical Girls,” we recommended catching the band at the Hideout in September. You still pick up a copy of the 400 edition run vinyl via Saint Marie Records for just $5.50.
Panda Riot recently announced that they will be releasing their new full length LP, Northern Automatic Music in late February. You can check out a short video trailer for the album on YouTube.
Another band to get excited about tomorrow is local rock group, Panther Style. No stranger to TVD, the quartet self-released their first full-length, ¡Emergencia!, last May. You can pick up the record on vinyl for just $10 through Bandcamp or at a number of Chicago’s best record shops including Reggie’s, Reckless, Dave’s, and Laurie’s Planet of Sound.
Along with The Bright White, Panda Riot, and Panther Style, Warm, Safe & Sound will also feature Chicago musicians The Second and Adam Ashbach.
The 18+ show kicks off at 7:00 PM at Schuba’s Tavern (3159 N. Southport) tomorrow, 12/20. You can pick up tickets online for $12 or gain entry for $8 with the donation of some winter gear for a good cause. As mentioned above, the show will start with Adam Ashbach, Panther Style, The Second, and The Bright White, with Panda Riot closing out the evening.
