Soft Speaker, made up of Joe Daley, Blair Douglass, Paul Foreman, and Nick Rocchio, have crafted their sound straight from the recesses of psychedelic, indie rock, to give us yet another amazing example of what the Chicago music scene has to offer.
Soft Speaker (or Sanftsprecher to the “purists”) are bringing their A-game to the Beat Kitchen on November 19 to celebrate the release of their second full length album, Vortrobos.

Soft Speaker has been rocking the Midwest and surrounding areas since 2008 when they released their first album, The Great Brick Mosque & I. From there it has been non-stop music leading to their 2011 LP, I’ll Tend Your Garden, which began to garner some attention for the group.
While the Chicago Sun Times has said that Soft Speaker is their “favorite discovery this year”, TVD Chicago can say with confidence that Soft Speaker is a group that anyone with a passion for rock, folk, or psychedelic can get in to. With their almost tributary sounds of ’60s and’70s classic rock, Soft Speaker expertly shows off their control and understanding of the genre.
On their newest release Vortrobos, Soft Speaker’s unique blend of melodic organ and guitar mixed with drum and bass truly bring forth an almost trance-inducing sound. While some bands rely on their best musician to carry them, this group is equally divided amongst talented artists, who leave you with not a single disappointing track.
