This Friday, 12/16, the Beat Kitchen will be hosting NOISE FOR TOYS: A Rock N Roll Charity Event. Featuring some of Chicago’s favorite local acts, toys will be collected at the show to be donated to the US Marine Corp Reserve “Toys For Tots” charity.
If feeling good about yourself isn’t enough of a reward, you will receive HALF OFF the price of admission for your donation of a packaged, unwrapped toy.
The show will feature Chicago bands, The Scissors, The Noise FM, Archie Powell & The Exports, and State and Madison. Along with the performance of seasonal cover songs – exclusive to the show, Santa will be making an appearance for photographs, lap-sitting, and gift-requesting.
If all of these festivities have somehow failed to sway you, local businesses will be raffling off prizes, and the concert-goer with the best holiday sweater will have a chance to win a gift pack put together by the bands.
NOISE FOR TOYS starts at 9:00 PM at the Beat Kitchen, 2100 W. Belmont. Tickets for the 17+ show are $10 (Presale) or $5 with a packaged toy for donation. You can also RSVP to the event on Facebook.
Headlining the show is Chicago’s State and Madison. The Pop/Rock quartet has self-released 5 EPs since 2005. Become the Not Found, released on vinyl in 2008 during a sold out Beat Kitchen performance, is available from the band at any show.
Over the summer, State and Madison recorded their new full-length album, Tar and Feather, and are currently working to fund its mixing, mastering and pressing.
Utilizing Kickstarter, they are looking to raise $6,500 to complete the project. If the fund-raising campaign goes well enough, there may even be a split 7” single released as promotion. Check out their Kickstarter page, and let’s help support local music in Chicago!
