After 25 years, it’s no secret that SXSW is a pretty big deal in the music scene. And with roughly 2,000 musicians from all over the globe playing on 90+ stages in Austin, it can also be a little overwhelming. Lucky for you, TVD-CHI is here to help with a list of the familiar faces you can support while you’re down in Texas.
Even with the intimidating 19 hour drive, some of Chicago’s finest are making the journey to Austin to take part in the 6 day music festival that starts next Tuesday. Below, I have listed the venues and set times for the Chicago area musicians with official SXSW showcases.
In an effort to preserve what little sanity I may have left, I made no attempt to dissect the hundreds of parties and private shows taking place in Austin throughout the week – you’re on your own there.
If you’re not headed down south, you can still take part of the action and support some local acts with The Hideout’s Annual SXSW Send Off Party. The show, this Saturday, features Kids These Days, In Tall Buildings, Musikanto, Hollywood Holt, The Waco Brothers, Outer Minds, Cains & Abels, Redgrave, Unicycle Loves You, Football, and Paper Thick Walls.
