From emerging into mainstream radio to getting nominated for two Grammy awards, it’s safe to say that 2012 was the year for The Lumineers. 2013 looks just as promising for the folk band. With a sold-out tour, the band has started the new year right. 

The Lumineers were founded in 2005 by front man Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites. Grief-stricken by the loss of close friend and brother Joshua Fraites, the band served as a way of coping. With a move to Denver and the addition of cellist Neyla Pekarek, The Lumineers gained a following, and so much more, with their hit single, “Ho Hey.”

Seeing the high demand for tickets, The Lumineers recently added another date to their tour. On January 30, the band will be playing at D.A.R. Constitution Hall… and we’re giving away a pair of tickets before they even go on sale!

After taking a couple of six year hiatuses, alternative rock band, Concrete Blonde is back… again.

From their start in 1982, Concrete Blonde has released eight studio albums, including their 1989 release Free, which displayed lead singer and bassist Johnette Napolitano‘s songwriting skills through the track “God is a Bullet.” Their 1990 release Bloodletting gained the band popularity through the song “Joey,” which hit No.1 on the US Modern Rock chart.

The Los Angeles band comprises, in addition to Napolitano, James Mankey and Gabriel Ramirez Quezada. Lately, they haven’t really been on back-to-back tours and recording sessions as they were in their earlier years. Rather, they’ve taken it down a notch, releasing songs and planning shows every now and then at their own relaxed pace. Though a far stretch from when their hit song “Joey” was released, Concrete Blonde is still writing hits and performing shows that keep their fans wanting more.

Garret Dutton, aka G. Love from G. Love and Special Sauce, is not new to the music industry. He first gained success through the 1994 release of his self-titled, debut album. The album, released by Epic Records, was certified Gold thanks to hits like “Cold Beverage” and “Baby’s Got Sauce.” 

Following the success of his debut, G. Love released more albums, including his genre-defining 2006 album, Lemonade. Fusing hip-hop and blues, the Philadelphia native’s Lemonade brought him sweet success on the Billboard 100, debuting at number 39.

G. Love and Special Sauce are currently touring from coast to coast, playing shows all over the country. This Friday, November 16, G. Love and his bandmates who make up the Special Sauce, Timo Shanko and Houseman, are playing at the 9:30 Club, and we’re giving away a pair of tickets!

Jersey-born singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten has established her place in the indie rock scene. With two albums already under her belt, Van Etten continues to wow fans through her powerfully emotional songs. She recently released her third album Tramp on the Jagjaguwar label.

Debuting at number 75 on the Billboard 200, Tramp is solid proof that Sharon Van Etten has honed and mastered her skills as a songwriter. She recently released the new video for her song “Magic Chords” from the album.

Before she embarks on her Australian tour, Van Etten will be playing quite a few more shows across the US. She’ll be playing at the 9:30 Club this Thursday, October 25th, and we’re giving away a pair of tickets!
