Although TVD Austin contributor Mike Harrell (aka “Hammerhead“) is as pumped about SXSW as the rest of us are, he first wanted to let everyone know about this non-SXSW showcase going on during the same week. I think I now understand how he got that nickname.
Read Mike’s post after the jump:
Hammerhead return! The Amphetamine Reptile Records eardrum crushers reunite to play the Anacho Retardist Terror Exhibit at Obsolete Industries! I first saw the band at Bogart’s in Long Beach, Calif., way back in 1991. They were the first band on a mega-bill that also included Quicksand and Helmet. This AmRep show sees the band get back together for a rare appearance after a 15 year hiatus. Last year, the Fargo boys reunited for two shows in NYC and Minneapolis. Here’s hoping they play “Load King”! This showcase promises to be anything but friendly on the hearing.
Get there early as they will also be selling limited edition 7”s at the show. Hammerhead perform inside the gallery at 7pm. After the art show, five other AmRep bands including Vaz (featuring members of Hammerhead), Black Congress, White Drugs, Gay Witch Abortion and The Book of Right On perform.
March 17th-Obsolete Industries • 1700 12th St. • Austin TX 7:00pm-1:00am.
