End Of An Ear New Releases and Events

It’s a big week down at End of and Ear with today’s new releases and Chaos in Tejas starting on Thursday. There are still plenty of tickets still available for a number of these shows down at the ‘Ear. Also on tap, End of an Ear will be hosting a few instores this weekend to coincide with Chaos in Tejas:

Pollard, Robert “Lord of the Birdcage” CD (GBV Inc) On this new album Pollard reverses his songwriting process, transforming a dozen previously written poems into songs.

Nilovic, Janko “Soul Impressions” LP (Vadim Music) Another piece of period brilliance from this Yugoslavia-by-way-of-France composer/arranger/library music kingpin.
Scorpion Violente “Uberschleiss” LP (Avant Records) The gay beast from France obsessed with trash electronics and bad sexual habits. Eight longs tracks of a sort of sick mix between Giorgio Moroder italo disco and the paranoid minimal wave by Suicide and Cabaret Voltaire.

AKA “Hard Beat” CD/LP (Strawberry Rain) Anthology from Indonesia’s heaviest Psychedelic and Progressive Funk Rock group. AKA is an acronym of Apotik Kali Asin.
Anima Sound “Stürmischer Himmel” LP (Wah Wah) Reissue of their Ohr debut. An organic collection of improvised atonal pieces ranging from the atmospheric to the wild with much use of screaming, horns, percussions, ambience recordings, wordless vocals and all kinds of home-made sound devices.
Finjarn & Jensen “s/t” CD (Shadoks) Norwegian heavy rock album, originally released in 1970 only in Norway. Heavy, British-style psychedelic flower power rock.
Gila “Free Electric Rock Session” LP (Second Battle) Live recording from Cologne in 1972 that was broadcasted ‘live in studio’ by a radio station in Germany. Great sound. Limited to 1000 copies.
Jump “Jump” CD (Kismet) A short-lived quartet who’d formed on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip in the spring of 1971. This lost progressive pop-rock gem is a catchy blend of hard-edged pop and rock, with meaty guitar and organ interplay. Boasts the talents of long-term Iggy Pop sideman Scott Thurston.

Landry, Dickie “Fifteen Saxophones” CD (Unseen Worlds) Now in stock on CD. Reissue of this little known classic from founding Philip Glass Ensemble member Richard ‘Dickie’ Landry. Following two jazz LPs issued on the Chatham Square label (which he co-ran), Dickie Landry released Fifteen Saxophones, a set of 1974 recordings done with engineer Kurt Munkacsi, on the Northern Lights and Wergo labels in 1978.
