Odessa, TX | Organizers hoping concert will keep iconic record store in business: Last week, Sam Logan, the owner of Endless Horizons, an iconic record store in Odessa that has been in business for nearly 50 years, said he may have to close the doors for good, amid hard economic times. Now, fans of the store have rallied behind Logan to begin a Capital Campaign to fund a move to a new building and keep the legendary business alive. The concert fundraiser, expected to take place at the Vine Event Venue on September 16. Musicians have not been announced, but the group backing the venture is hoping to garner enough interest to kick things into high gear. “We are hosting a campaign benefit concert for Endless Horizons…we’re just trying to get money coming in again,” said organizer Amanda Provence.

In case you haven’t already heard, Stockport is an absolute hive of activity at the minute. Among the numerous selling points brought to the borough by its recent regeneration are SK1 Records’ now-legendary street parties, which might just be this place’s magnum opus. Having been voted Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture for 2023 , many locals and those less familiar with Stockport might understandably assume the award was largely down to the likes of Foodie Friday, County being back on the up, perhaps, or Blossoms just absolutely smashing on the UK music scene. That being said, we’d say there’s a very strong argument to be made that one of the biggest and best things about the former Cheshire town (no, for the last time, it isn’t Cheshire anymore) is SK1 Records and their unrivalled street parties. If you’ve never been to one of these things before, then yes, you’re seriously missing out.

It took an absolute age,” he says. This eclectic wallpaper forms a backdrop to the centrepiece—a timber record stand custom-designed by Naser Ali of Marrickville-based Studio Selah housing music and merch.

Batavia, NY | Of record shopping, strange music and Billboard’s Top 100 album covers: Do Billboard’s Top 100 album covers make the grade? If I was 22 years old, I might have been pretty happy. Billboard released its Top 100 album covers list Tuesday and “The Velvet Underground & Nico” was ranked No. 1. It’s the iconic Warhol painting of a banana on a white background. You could peel off the banana sticker and a neon-pink banana was underneath. I was a really big fan of the Velvets at the time. I had a poster of the album cover in my dorm room in college. True to the Velvet Underground’s reputation as ignored-in-their-day, it looked like the cast of the “Today” show had little to no idea of the band when Carson Daly made the announcement. He had to explain the banana peel sticker, to little good effect. I read the entire list a bit later. All such lists are subjective, of course, so one can’t put much stock in them.
Factory-Sealed “Infinite” 1st Press Vinyl Getting Auctioned For Charity: Marshall has signed the rarest vinyl copy of his debut album — and now it is up for sale on the online auction. This is one of only 250 copies made for media and radio promotion. Not many copies from this run remained unsealed but Paul Rosenberg, who provided one, apparently has access to some rare treasures. To make the item even more unique and desirable, Marshall signed the copy on camera. The sale goes through Goldin, the collectibles marketplace for some of the most significant pieces of sports and pop culture memorabilia. The starting bid of $25,000 has been already placed. Who knows how high up it will go before the bidding ends on Thursday, 9/14/23 at 4:00 AM. As usual, Eminem puts his memorabilia for sale for charity. This time is not an exception.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Score Gets Vinyl Release, Digital Extended Edition: Sony Music Masterworks has announced a vinyl edition of composer Daniel Pemberton’s original score for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The record label has also released an extended version of the animated Marvel film’s score on streaming platforms. Per Sony, the vinyl edition of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Original Score) is a “2-LP set featuring highlights from the score hand-selected by Pemberton and newly pressed on kaleidoscopic, multiversal orange and purple marbled vinyl. The package includes a stunning soft-touch gatefold jacket with spot gloss, a double-sided collectable poster and two printed sleeves with custom art — plus, an 8-page art booklet featuring liner notes from Daniel Pemberton and art from the film.” The vinyl is currently available for pre-order, with prices ranging from $41.98 to $44.99. It is expected to ship on November 17.
