Benefit concert set up to help repair Doncaster record shop window: A fundraising benefit concert has been set up to help carry out repairs to a vandalised Doncaster town centre record shop window. The Notorious Aardvark in Waterdale was attacked by “mindless idiots” who smashed a window at the store which specialises in vinyl and rare records. A crowdfunding appeal to raise £500 to carry out the repairs has been set up and now musicians will come together on Sunday to help raise even more money for store owner Simon Saynor.

Third Man Records promise to ‘make vinyl history’ on July 30: Jack White could be set to become the first person to play a vinyl record in space after the musician’s Third Man Records released a teaser clip for a mysterious upcoming event. In 2012, the former White Stripes man astronaut Buzz Aldrin that he was working on a “secret project” to get one of the songs on his Third Man Records label to be the “first vinyl record played in outer space”. Asked how he planned to do it, White said he was planning “to launch a balloon that carries a vinyl record player. And figure out a way to drop the needle with all that turbulence up there and ensure that it will still play”.
