It reintroduced vinyl records after 25 years in March.
Rebel Rebel Records Is Latest To Shutter Due To Rising Rents: In upsetting yet unsurprising news, another longtime Manhattan record store is shutting its doors. Rebel Rebel Records—one of the best—has run its charmingly messy shop out of 319 Bleecker Street for 28 years, but the rent has gotten too high and owner David Shebiro is closing up at the end of June, according to Vanishing New York. Shebiro said “that the owner of the building has raised the rent and they plan to put another basic ‘high-end’ clothing store in its place.” Oh.

Bella Union has opened a record shop in Brighton: Indie label Bella Union Records has unveiled its Vinyl Shop in the historic quarter of Brighton’s Lanes. The shop, which opened today (8 June), will focus on stock from the label catalogue, which includes items by Father John Misty, John Grant, Explosions In The Sky, Beach House and more. Bella Union was founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins after a career with 4AD. The label is now run solely by Raymonde, who is also the man behind this new shop.
