Disc-O-Rama, which first opened in 1976 and had a few locations in Manhattan, closed its last store over the weekend which was located on W. 8th St (between Macdougal and 6th Ave.) “Thank you New York. At its new 20,000-square-foot plant, Precision Record Pressing held an opening celebration Thursday for more than 100 invited music industry guests, including representatives from all the major Canadian record labels. The $5 million plant, located in an industrial park off Harvester Road, boasts five new double record presses — freshly manufactured in the Czech Republic — that can turn out 3.6 million vinyl records per year. “There’s nobody else (in Canada) that can do our volume,” Precision vice-president Gerry McGhee said in an interview.

David Bowie’s special RSD release of Cracked Actor to be re-issued: Due to fan demand, David Bowie’s record label Parlophone have announced a full edition release of the late artist’s ‘Live in Los Angeles’ album. The album, released as part of Record Store Day, is a special one-off recording of the artist in Los Angeles in 1974. This gig, from the apt Philly Dogs Tour, has gone down as one of Bowie’s great legacy shows. Remaining completely unreleased until last month, the record was the biggest selling vinyl album on Record Store Day this year. The show was one of the first to feature his long-time collaborators and touring band members, Earl Slick and Carlos Alomar. Cracked Actor was produced by David Bowie and mixed by Tony Visconti at Human Studios, NYC in October and November 2016.
