Record store finds for under $10, It is possible, I promise: With Record Store Day fast approaching in a couple weeks, I knew I needed a quick fix before a full day of vinyl festivities. So, this Saturday, I ventured out to Columbia’s three downtown record shops to see what sort of treasures I could find. I had a couple rules in mind: I couldn’t spend more than $10 on any one album, and I had to find something I’d never seen before. Here’s what I stumbled upon.

The Vinyl Vault brings music fans together in Littleton: Gregory Frediani, the owner of The Vinyl Vault record store on King Street overlooking Littleton Common, describes his store this way: “This is the record store that we grew up with.” You could walk in, he said, “you could buy a 45, get a patch for your jean jacket or your backpack…” And sure enough, when you enter the The Vinyl Vault you will see multiple turntables, T-shirts, CDs, rock biographies, and patches for denim jackets. There are also leather jackets, posters, and records. Lots and lots of records. According to Frediani, he has 10,000 records shelved and about 40,000 in storage.

Turning the tables: What’s the story behind the vinyl records comeback in Yorkshire? Record stores – and the people that work in them – have a reputation. Like Championship Vinyl in Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity they are often regarded as a home to music snobs, who look unfavourably on anyone buying a record which has ever troubled the charts. The opposite, however, is true of own Jumbo Records in Leeds, which has been pushing vinyl for the best part of 50 years. Being in a city which values live music, from the ever popular Leeds Festival at Bramham Park to the annual Live At Leeds event, helps.

Alberta will be home to 15 record store locations, four of which will be located in Edmonton; Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre, West Edmonton Mall, Londonderry Mall and Kingsway Mall.

La La Land Soundtrack Best-Selling Vinyl of 2017 So Far, The top ten also features Run the Jewels, the xx, Amy Winehouse, Ryan Adams, more: Nielsen Music has revealed its statistics for the first quarter of 2017, including lists of the best-selling albums, most-streamed songs, and more. When it comes to vinyl, one release reigns supreme: the La La Land soundtrack, which has sold 25,000 copies to date, is the best-selling vinyl record of the year so far. Elsewhere on the top 10 best-selling vinyl list is Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black, Ed Sheeran’s ÷, Run the Jewels’ RTJ3, the Killers’ debut Hot Fuss (reissued earlier this year), Ryan Adams’ most recent album Prisoner, and the xx’s I See You.

10 trends that may disrupt businesses: Vinyl records will continue their seven-year growth resurgence and may approach $1 billion globally in revenues for the first time this millennium. Today, for many buyers, the record has become a collectible, a memento, a proudly physical format and an expression of individuality in an increasingly digital world. Sales are estimated at one-twenty-fifth of vinyl’s peak in 1981.
