Recycled Records up for sale after 40 years in business: SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Recycled Records may soon be a different kind of store. The Springfield staple is known for its antiques, records and of course its one of a kind charm. But now, it is up for sale after about 40 years of both records and memories. “As a music store, it’s been between I think 1978 I think. My brother told me that. So, close to 40 years,” Secretary and Treasurer of Recycled Records Mark Kessler said. But Kessler’s connection to the building goes far beyond the 40 years of Recycled Records. “I love this store. It’ll be very hard to sell it. It’ll be very hard to walk out of here. My family’s had a business here since 1910,” Kessler said.

The Record Connection plans biggest day ever: Record Store Day is turning it up to 11 this year. Now in its 11th year, the annual celebration of the independent record store will feature more exclusive RSD music releases than ever, and from many huge stars. Well over 200 albums will appear in record stores – including the Record Connection in Niles – on April 21. Jeff Burke, owner and operator of the shop in Pine Tree Plaza on U.S. Route 422, said The Record Connection will again put up a large tent in the parking lot. Doors will open at 10 a.m., and merchandise (and coffee and donuts if you get there early enough) will be displayed in both the tent and the store…The Record Connection will have for sale almost all of the 200-plus exclusive titles. Kiki and Henry’s Record Fair is back at Stourbridge’s historic Talbot Hotel: Vintage vinyl is once again up for grabs to Black Country music fans as Kiki and Henry bring their popular record fair back to Stourbridge this weekend. From 11am until 4pm on Saturday (April 7), the organisers and their fellow traders will be taking over their regular spot at the historic Talbot Hotel in High Street. Traders will be offering a vast array of vinyl records and collectables to suit all tastes and budgets, while music books, CDs and memorabilia will also be for sale. This month’s event will also see local artist and music fan Aimee Millward debut her rock artwork at the fair.
Vinyl Record Fair Returns to Rio’s Flamengo this Sunday: RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Sunday, April 8th, the “Feira do Vinil do Rio” (Rio’s Vinyl Record Fair) is back to Zona Sul. Taking place at UNIVERITAS, in Flamengo, the twentieth edition of the event hopes to attract vintage music lovers with its 60 vinyl record stalls, including the store Human Head, from Brooklyn, New York. Produced by Marcello Maldonado and Marcello MBGroove (from the cultural collective, “Vinyl É Arte”), the fair seeks to expand the vinyl culture among Rio’s residents by bringing both the relics and the latest releases from the Long Play market. This Vinyl Fair edition will pay tribute to João Donato, a remarkable musician from the Música Popular Brasileira who has already played with international artists like Tito Puente, Ralph Peña, Eddie Palmieri, and Johnny Martinez.
The vinyl countdown: 80,000 records must go: Jason Woodward doesn’t own a television or live life to the norm. The larger-than-life man sinks his time into another investment. Records. Eighty thousand of them. The owner of Brisbane record store Butter Beats, which recently closed, is selling off his collection to the Sunshine Coast for one day only. “Music is life, and good music means a good life,” Mr Woodward said. “I’ll be selling off 80,000 records. I’ve got 800 milk crates stacked with them. Some have never been released. “I began when I was seven after seeing The Blues Brothers, for 40 odd years now. A Minnie the Moocher seven inch was my first then I was hooked from the get-go. Now I have 15,000 in my home and back shed.”
Inside Jimi Hendrix’s blood-spattered record collection: If you’re ever at a loose end in central London, you could do far worse than checking out the historic recreation of Jimi Hendrix’s Mayfair flat. Handel & Hendrix in London is a museum dedicated to two disparate musical icons – George Frideric Handel and Jimi Hendrix – because both lived on the museum’s Brook Street site. As part of your visit, you can check out a recreation of Jimi Hendrix’s flat, including his record collection – which includes some huge classics (one of which, slightly grimly, has blood all over it). Rag’n’Bone Man is Record Store Day 2018’s UK ambassador and will release two new songs: Rag’n’Bone Man has been named the UK ambassador of Record Store Day 2018. As well as being the face this year’s event, the singer-songwriter will release two new songs exclusively to mark the occasion, called Don’t Set The World On Fire and George Has Got A Friend. The latter is about the recent birth of his son Reuben. “It’s about my son coming into the world,” he told Newsbeat. “Our friends have a little boy called George, that’s the premise of the song. “This is one of the most amazing things I’ve done so far. These songs don’t exist anywhere else. They’ve never been recorded before. They’re not on the last album and they won’t be on the next one either.”
