Now, they hope to bring the video store experience back to Brooklyn, filling the shoes of erstwhile institutions like Videology and Kim’s Video. Physical media is Night Owl’s bread and butter. …They’ll also be selling movie memorabilia, posters, vinyl soundtracks, pins, shirts and hats.
Lincoln, NE | Lincoln record shop looks to capitalize on vinyl trend: Jed Rojewski started to build his catalog of vinyl—which now stands at a comfortable 386 records—when he was just 12 years old. While growing up in Grand Island the youngest of four kids, he landed his first job detasseling corn in junior high. He saved up the money he earned to buy his first stereo. “My oldest brother Jay had a really nice stereo, and when the parents were gone, the volume was up and it was like, ‘Wow, that’s really cool.’ I wanted to do that as well,” Rojewski said. Today in his mancave of a basement, with electric guitars hanging on the wall and concert tickets he’s saved from every show he’s been to plastered on wooden arches, there sits his record player and new speaker system. Why does he continue to put money into this hobby? The nostalgia, Rojewski said.
