Record Store Day: Northumbria University to host Vinyl Record Fair: To mark Record Store Day on Saturday, April 16, the university is hosting a Vinyl Record Fair in its Ellison Building, promising a selection of old and new records covering all genres as well as some exclusive record store day releases. If you have a record player and are looking for some new music to spin, you’re sure to not leave empty handed as a huge range of records will be available, including a number of rare finds, as sellers flock from all over to set up shop.

Josh Rosenthal Announces Record Store Of The Mind Book Tour: Josh Rosenthal, a Grammy-nominated producer and the founder of San Francisco-based label Tompkins Square, is going on tour to promote his first book, Record Store of the Mind, this April. The book is a sort of amalgam of memoir-ish stories and music criticism, wherein Rosenthal shares anecdotes from his 30 years of experience in the industry combined with yarns about his favorite artists and their works.

Why This Popular Designer Is Devoted to Promoting Album Covers on Instagram: Stefan Sagmeister: Vinyl went from being an interesting mass medium contained in a 12-inch sleeve, to the smaller and often less desirable version of the CD cover, and now back to the 12-inch format. The difference to the ’80s is that it’s now a niche medium with much less money involved, which allows for higher quality of [design] work, as fewer people are involved.

Crosley to open vinyl pressing plant: Let’s just hope the records are better than the decks. Crosley Radio, the maligned faux-vintage turntable manufacturer, will open a record pressing plant next year. “We’ve been selling record players for years,” Crosley’s CEO Bo LeMastus told ARCARacing. “So getting in the record-pressing business is a natural extension of what we’ve already been doing. There isn’t a lot of record-pressing equipment out there, so we’re buying some. Now, we’ll be able to take a recording, make a stamp, press out a vinyl record and package it to completion.”

Music City Record Convention Debut Event, May 15: The Music City Record Convention will debut on May 15, 2016 in the Parlor Room at The Nashville Palace. Dozens of vendors from all over the southeast will have 1000’s of records and other music collectables for sale, filling an area larger than a basketball court. Regular admission will be $5 (kids get in free) and Nashville Boogie attendees get in free.
