Detroit, MI | Jett Plastic Records celebrates a decade of rock ’n’ roll with this weekend’s Jettblast Fest: The local label was founded by Jarrett Koral when he was just a teenager. What were you doing when you were 14? Back in 2012, local music fan Jarrett Koral founded his own record label. In the decade since, Jett Plastic Recordings has made a splash by putting out more than 75 vinyl discs by local acts like Bootsey X and Kenny Tudrick and plenty of national ones, too, like actor Macaulay Culkin’s band the Pizza Underground. Koral is celebrating 10 years of making records (they grow up so fast!) with this weekend’s Jettblast Fest, featuring 20 bands across two nights of rock ’n’ roll at the Lager House. Atlanta, GA | Rapper Gucci Mane, record store reminds fans that records aren’t dead during signing event: On Oct. 17, rapper Gucci Mane made a special appearance at a CD and vinyl signing event, coincidentally sharing the name with his record label, 1017. The event, which saw the release of his new album “Breath of Fresh Air,” drew in crowds, including many families, as fans gathered to meet the renowned artist. The event took place at DBS Sounds, a local record store with a history spanning nearly 30 years, making it one of the longest-standing Black-owned record shops in Atlanta. The owner of DBS Sounds expressed his delight in celebrating Atlanta’s hip-hop culture while taking the opportunity to correct some common misconceptions about the music industry. Tobago, the owner of DBS Sounds, emphasized the enduring significance of record sales and their role in supporting artists.

Olivia Rodrigo Releasing Secret Tracks Record Store Day EP Pressed By Jack White’s Third Man: When Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore album GUTS came out last month, four different non-album cuts were hidden across four different vinyl variants. Today, Rodrigo announced that those “secret tracks” will be released on a 7″ for this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday. The vinyl was pressed by Jack White’s Third Man Pressing plant in Detroit. “I’m a big [Third Man Records] fan and I”m so stoked to have my songs on their vinyl!!!” Rodrigo wrote on an Instagram post, in which she also shared a photo of her giving White a haircut backstage at Brooklyn Steel. Rodrigo said that Jack White (and St. Vincent) were among her mentors when making her new album. The GUTS secret tracks 7″ will be available on 11/24, aka Record Store Day Black Friday.

Tuff City Records announces reissue series commemorating 50 years of Hip-Hop: Hip-Hop label Tuff City, once the recording home of Davy DMX, The Cold Crush Brothers, 45 King, Spoonie Gee, and YZ, has announced a reissue series commemorating 50 years of Hip-Hop. Each volume represents an important facet of performers on the seminal label: The Solo MC’s, The MC Crews, The DJ’s and The Female MC’s. Each volume also features an inner sleeve with liner notes and bonus 7” insert. Each pressing consists of 750 on red vinyl and 750 of an opaque color specific to the volume (Yellow, Gold, Blue, Orange). A bonus 7” single is slipped in the cover encased in a Tuff City logo sleeve in the style of the labels iconic 12” singles. The series was also conceptualized as a multi-set release to stand side by side with the classic Old School Rarities series (The Funky Drum Jams, The Electro Jams, The Linn Drum Jams & The Disco Jams) issued by Tuff City’s subsidiary Ol’ Skool Flava.

ABBA’s ‘The Visitors’ And Period Singles To Be Released In Deluxe Suite: They include a 2LP, 45rpm edition of the album itself, remastered at Abbey Road Studios. Special vinyl editions of ABBA’s 1981 album The Visitors and singles from the era are to be released in a suite of deluxe products on December 1. Available for pre-order from today (18), they comprise a 2LP, 45rpm edition of the album itself, remastered at Abbey Road Studios. The discs will be presented in a gatefold sleeve featuring obi strip and certificate of authenticity. Also available to order now is a 4×7″ colour singles box set as a D2C exclusive, and individual 7″ picture discs of the ABBA singles “Head Over Heels,” “One Of Us,” “The Day Before You Came,” and “Under Attack.” The first two of these titles were tracks from the album, while the second pair both came from the late 1982 compilation The Singles: The First Ten Years.

Cocteau Twins Announce Vinyl Reissues of Final Two Albums: Marking the first vinyl pressings of Four-Calendar Café and Milk & Kisses in the US. Cocteau Twins have announced vinyl reissues of their final two albums, 1993’s Four-Calendar Café and 1996’s Milk & Kisses. The fresh pressings are out January 12th via 4AD. With 24-bit remasters by guitarist Robin Guthrie, the reissues mark the first time both Four-Calendar Café and Milk & Kisses have been released on vinyl in the United States. It also reunites Cocteau Twins with 4AD after the band left the storied London label for Capitol Records for US distribution in 1988. Recorded at Cocteau Twins’ September Sound studio in West London, Four-Calendar Café was a departure for the band — in that you could actually sort of understand what Elizabeth Fraser was singing. The record spawned two moderate hits, “Evangeline” and “Bluebeard.”

Mariah Carey’s ‘It’s A Wrap’ Set For First-Ever Vinyl Release: The EP will include the Mary J. Blige-assisted remix, a sped-up version, and a three-minute edit of the song. “It’s a Wrap,” one of many standout cuts from Mariah Carey’s twelfth studio album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is set to receive a vinyl release thanks to its resurgence on TikTok. The special four-track release features 2009 album cut and the Mary J. Blige-assisted remix originally included as a bonus track on 2014’s Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse, as well as a sped-up version and a new three-minute edit of the song. The album will be offered as a limited edition gold vinyl or as a standard black vinyl. Users on TikTok are using the song to soundtrack videos about behavior they can’t tolerate, from people raising their voices at them or not liking their aesthetic.
