The Vinyl Revival: Why Gen X and Z are driving the trend: …Aged 16 to 25, Generation Z grew up in a world where music was instantly accessible via streaming platforms. Yet, despite the ease of digital access, many in this group report feeling disconnected from the music they consume online. Vinyl offers a way to build a more meaningful relationship with the music they love, allowing them to physically own and engage with their favourite albums. For these younger listeners, vinyl is more than just a medium for music — it’s a form of self-expression. Limited-edition releases, coloured vinyl, and exclusive albums provide a sense of individuality. The retro appeal of vinyl also resonates with their love for vintage culture, blending old-school style with modern sensibilities.

Middletown, CT | WESU FM Brings Music Lovers Together at Fall Record Fair: I find it extremely hard to control myself around large amounts of vinyl records. It’s something about the moment of seeing a record I love, knowing it could be mine to take home and listen to on loudspeakers in the clearest quality possible, to stare at and read and play and replay, to scan for little differences from the version I may know from streaming (happens more than you’d think)…it’s impossible to pass up. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to hear that WESU 88.1 FM, the University’s radio station, would be hosting its annual Fall Record Fair in Fayerweather Hall on Saturday, Oct. 5. WESU Community Volunteer Liaison Chaim O’Brien-Blumenthal explained the process of publicizing the event to get the largest possible turnout from both students and the community.

Harrow, OK | Harrow author shares vinyl-collecting journey and details of new book: Graham Sharpe, a Harrow resident and lifelong vinyl enthusiast, has recently published his latest book, On The Record(s), exploring the world of vinyl record collecting. Graham, who grew up in Wealdstone and attended Harrow County school, has a deep-rooted connection to the area. He began his career as a journalist at Weekly Post Newspapers and later worked with William Hill, where he eventually became Media Relations Director. “I am pretty much born (Edgware) and bred (Wealdstone) in Harrow,” Graham shared. “I left school in 1968 and began working as a rookie reporter at Weekly Post Newspapers, based in Ickenham. We had about ten editions locally—Harrow, Ruislip, Wembley, Ealing, etc. Married Sheila in 1974 (still together despite her regular complaints that either I or the vinyl (preferably both) should leave to free up space in the house!), and we set up home in Headstone, before moving to Harrow Weald, then Hatch End, where we live now.”

Pro-Ject T1 Evo: The Pro-Ject T1 Evo is an upgraded version of its entry-level T1 turntable (which was released in late 2019 and is seemingly being phased out). A limited edition set of Mitsubishi pill-shaped record weights have dropped: The essential vinyl stabilisers for any ’90s raver. A limited edition set of record weights shaped like Mitsubishi ecstasy pills have landed on shelves, courtesy of H.A.N.D.HiFi. Created by the custom hi-fi gear company, the record weights clock in at 523 grams promising to apply “firm pressure on the record to the platter lessening unwanted vibration coming off the record.” The pressure applied results in a “smoother and richer tonal balance with vast improvement in soundstage clarity”, H.A.N.D.HiFi explained on Instagram. According to the hi-fi company, the weights also offer “instrumental definition, increased dynamic range, improved bass response and substantial reduction in vinyl noise floor.” H.A.N.D.HiFi are encouraging users to Make Dancefloor Magic Again (MDMA) with their latest design, which is released by Berlin-based record shop and label Sound Metaphors.
