UK Vinyl Video:
Jan Roth, “Siebzehn”

Jan Roth is an intriguing artist and one who seems to easily cross genres between jazz, post rock, and electronica. His forthcoming debut release L.O.W is out on July 26h via Berlin label Sinnbus and the video for “Siebzehn,” as simple as it is, showcases Jan’s brilliant talent for intricate layered sounds.

The video starts with electronic beats, shots of trendy beaten up shoes and three blokes in a room. It’s easy to make an assumption straight away about where this may go, but halfway through the video Jan displays his jazz influenced credentials as his piano melody gently slides over the beats and the song turns into something far different entirely, something truly wonderful.

As the video comes to a close, he surprises us again with whirs, noises, and loops which fade out slowly underneath the keys. Jan Roth makes strangely wonderful and brilliantly composed music and “Siebzehn” is just the tip of the iceberg.
